The project was conceived as three distinct buildings: two 8-storey Queen Buildings that would address the particular architectural qualities of Queen Street; and a 19-storey Lake Building that would exploit the view corridor offered by the CN rail Corridor. This complex is a redevelopment of a Brownfield site into a mix-use residential & commercial development. The development was part of an overall urban design study for the West Queen West Triangle. Major urban design features that were incorporated into the development were the creation of an urban courtyard with connections to Queen Street via a 2-storey gateway passage and links to a pedestrian mews. The industrial styled architecture respects the existing 19th Century buildings along Queen Street West through the use of brick piers, concrete cornices and gridded windows. The completed complex has become a key urban component in the new vibrant West Queen West community.
