About the Project

The Village of Humber Heights is a new 5-acre senior’s community located on the site of Toronto’s first Consolidated Public School c. 1921. The heritage asset links over 200,000 SF of new building with extensive common area. The facility provides independent living apartments, assisted living suites and Long-Term Care. 87 suites have doors directly onto the exterior walkway. These provide the complex with a unique perimeter address and are a convenience for grandchildren visiting by bicycle. Wide setbacks provide privacy. Building mass modulates from 1 to 5 storey with the tallest located mid site towards the arterial road. The village model emphasizes community living. From its neighbourhood location, to its open Main Street and Town Square activities, to its accommodation for Etobicoke Services for Seniors, an independent outreach program, the Village of Humber Heights is a centre for the health and vitality of Toronto seniors.
