About the Project

Panorama represents one of the more challenging sites developed in Toronto’s CityPlace neighbourhood. The site is bordered by the Gardiner Expressway, and Lake Shore Boulevard, but these constraints are turned into positive design features. The space under the Gardiner has been designed as a large outdoor room and forecourt for the development, visually linking it to a major new park to the east of the raised highway. The north façade of the building consists of a continuous curved glazed screen. The screen extends above the podium roof to shelter the spacious outdoor terrace from the fumes and noise of highway traffic while allowing selected views and light into the building. Behind the screen, three double-height floors provide an amenity area containing a private club for residents. In the seven storey podium facing Lake Shore Boulevard, live/work and loft units form a long sinuous curve. The podium also features retail uses at the ground floor. The body of the elliptically shaped tower includes floor-to-ceiling glazing and continuous balconies, giving each unit generous private outdoor space and panoramic views, creating a simple and striking profile for the building.
