The Heron’s Hill Residential project aims to define a new urban edge along Sheppard Avenue East in North York. With its location prominently on Sheppard Avenue across from the entrance/exit ramp to Highway 404, it becomes a gateway for the surrounding area. The slender, elegant composition of the tower is both optimistic and unobtrusive. At a pedestrian scale, the tower is setback and grounded by a 5 story podium. The podium not only continues the natural evolution of a street wall along Sheppard Avenue, but also begins to inform and define future growth. With retail space at street level, it enhances and promotes pedestrian activity, creating an urban sense of place. Portions of the tower extend directly to the street level in order to clearly define the entrance from the streetscape. The lobby entrance is also articulated with a canopy which solidifies the idea of entry, along with offering more protection from winds from above.
