The Burano and its companion development, The Murano, form a pair of gateposts that mark the terminus of the Bay Street view corridor looking north from Queen. The angular and transparent tower, 48-storey high, is set back from the street edge and angled to capture views of the city skyline to the south and Queen’s Park to the northwest. At street level, the Burano establishes a second pairing between the heritage McLaughlin Building and a north-facing a ‘jewel box’ podium. A third pairing exists between the podium itself and a public art installation entitled “Glass Memory”; the architect and artist worked closely to ensure that the artwork and the space in which it resides complement each other perfectly.
