Duca Financial Services and Canterbury Place Retirement Residence.
This phased development was completed last year and included a three-storey financial institution, pharmacy, rehabilitation, medical clinic, and a seventeen storey 160-unit Retirement Tower.
The podium was designed to enhance and create a dramatic experience for the pedestrian and the travelling public. The complex is nestled into the North York urban architecture.
The design features of the building and thoughtful layout are expressed on the outside as well on the inside. Great enjoyable amenity spaces are created, including a first class private restaurant, hairdresser salon, chapel, cinema theatre for the residential residents. The retirement residential component features balconies for every suite.
The higher level outdoor spaces have multiple public terraces, and large green roofs. The Duca green roof was a city of Toronto pilot project. The access to natural light throughout the complex was intentionally designed.
An extensive energy saving Innovative ground source heat pump system was utilized.
The project attempts to create a high standard for urban residential living and working.
