This small, exciting urban project is located at the site that bridges historic Corktown with the West Donlands/ Distillery District in Toronto. It is exceptional in that the resulting, infill development acts as both the vista terminus for Eastern Avenue (looking from the east) and a great, mixed-use streetwall building. The building’s massing successfully respects the scale of the existing neighbourhood by stepping down toward the residential to the north while maintaining a strong presence on Eastern Ave. The architectural design for this project references the area’s industrial past, using materiality in an inventive way, transforming it into a streamlined flatiron building which combines commercial and residential components.
