Located at the corner of Bay Street and Davenport Road, Diamante’s Florian rises in a crescent shape where Yorkville and the historic residential neighbourhood of Rosedale meet. The mixed-use project is characterized by its crisp, geometrical form, combining a four-storey podium that echoes the curvature of Davenport Road with a 25-storey tower. Designed by Hariri Pontarini, the building takes full advantage of the unusual shape of its site; Davenport Road , one of Toronto’s only streets off the regular grid plan, follows the path of an ancient Native Canadian trail .
The Florian features retail space on the ground floor and 99 spacious units above, complemented by amenities including an indoor pool, state-of-the-art fitness centre and fourth floor rooftop garden. The building’s boldly-coloured material palette blends the solidity of purple iron-spotted and black norman brick with a base building of white, Covelano marble from Bolzano, Italy , window wall and curtain wall glazing and glass guardrails. The building’s entranceway is framed by a colonnade of bronze –coloured pillars and future public artwork.
