| DEVELOPER'S COMMENTS: West One is the first development on the Concord CityPlace site constructed west of Spadina, and forms part of a grand gateway from the south, comprising 600 residential units in a composition that integrates individual townhouses with the 49 storey tower, connected by an amenity wing. On the Spadina elevation the Skylounge Amenity Centre is expressed with a dramatic concrete intervention on the glass façade, providing residents with panoramic views of the lake and the City. The vertical expression of the tower is contrasted with the horizontal stone banding of the midrise building – The Gallery. The entry courtyard to West One features a variety of scales, with a broad grassed common, an art plaza with installations by Chilean artist Francisco Gazitua, fountain and protected sitting area, in addition to the private gardens of the townhouses flanking the courtyard. West One and the sister tower N, which make up Block 25, with their distinctive tops create a signature cosmopolitan skyline, a coherent streetscape animated by retail shops, strategically positioned, small scaled public spaces, and a serene, people-oriented courtyard. |
